Grace in the wilderness

The Bible says in Jeremiah 31:2 Thus says the Lord: The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness.

The wilderness is not a place that one would go to. It can be a hostile place, an isolated area or a place where one may feel uncomfortable. Spiritual wilderness can also happen when people feel lost, depressed and lacking direction or purpose in their lives.

12 months on since the Covid-19 pandemic affected the UK, spiritual wilderness is evident and should not be neglected. Someone who is in spiritual wilderness may find it difficult to get out of that situation.  Grace is undeserved favour from God. In Christianity grace is a gift from the Lord Jesus Christ. God's gift of grace is a route out for people living in spiritual wilderness. We can also deliver a portion of grace to the people at work or to people around us. It's about being kind and gentle. It's about being forgiving. Being intentional about extending grace can be a joyful action. People who least expect to receive this portion of grace can be the ones who appreciate it the most. For those of us who are not living in wilderness, let us be thankful for what we have and also consider what we can do to extend some grace to people around us.
